The
Palmolive Building once again exudes glamour and brilliance.
The nuances that made this edifice famous have been
faithfully restored. A grand new lobby, reminiscent
of the 1929 original that was lost to renovation in
the 1960s, features walnut paneling, marble casework
and floors, nickel and glass doors and transoms, a
fireplaced lounge, and historic elevator carvings
by sculptor Enrique Alferez. The exterior of the Palmolive
Building, with its limestone block laid over a steel
and brick frame, is highlighted with decorative terra
cotta panels and carved stone. The verticality of
this precedent-setting setback design is emphasized
all the more with a signature lighting scheme, gracefully
bathing the walls in a divine glow to accentuate its
remarkable architecture.
A completely new systems infrastructure
will be built, including plumbing, electric, and HVAC
(heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) services
and risers. The HVAC system is able to heat and cool
year round. The electrical service will accommodate
the ample demand load required in a luxury residence.
All new elevators, including three passenger elevators
and a freight to each typical floor provide an exceptional
level of service, with wait times that are among the
best in the market. A new, indoor valet garage will
be for the private use of residents and guests, and
will provide a climate controlled parking environment
with an interior drop-off area that has direct access
to the residential lobby.
